RTC Earns Three-Year CARF Accreditation: A Recognized Leader in Quality and Person-Centered Care

RTC is pleased to share that we have once again earned a three-year accreditation from CARF International, the highest level awarded by the organization. This accreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to providing quality, person-centered services.

RTC’s history with CARF goes back nearly five decades. Our first accreditation was awarded in 1977, at a time when only eight facilities in the state of Ohio had achieved accreditation. That year, just 16% of organizations nationwide received a three-year certificate on their initial survey, making RTC’s early accreditation a noteworthy accomplishment and the beginning of our long-standing commitment to excellence.

CARF’s review process is detailed and thorough, evaluating organizations across hundreds of standards related to service quality, leadership, financial practices, and overall operations. Receiving a three-year accreditation demonstrates that RTC continues to meet these standards consistently.

In their report, CARF noted that RTC “demonstrated substantial conformance to the standards” and provides programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve. Reviewers recognized our efforts to help individuals find and maintain employment, supporting greater independence and stability.

Individuals in our programs shared that their experiences at RTC have positively influenced areas such as financial stability, health, relationships, and personal confidence. Families and employers also spoke to RTC’s professionalism and its ability to create strong job matches that support both the individual and the workplace.

CARF also acknowledged RTC’s strong presence in Logan County and our commitment to continuous improvement. Our long-standing relationships with many community partners contributed to this recognition.

“This accreditation is an honor and a reflection of the dedication of the entire RTC team,” said Tonya Reed, RTC Executive Director. “Every staff member plays a part in this achievement through their commitment and care for the people we serve.”

We extend our thanks to our staff, partners, and community for their ongoing support of RTC and our mission.

RTC Champion – Quinten “Q” James

We’re excited to celebrate Quinten James, better known as Q, as our RTC Champion! Q is a Support Specialist in Pos+Abilities and The Studio, and he brings an incredible range of talents to RTC every single day.

Q shares his creativity and skill with clients in many ways. He works with them on pottery, helps out at GRACE, and lends his unique flair to events like Haunted Halls. Whenever a program or event needs something built, crafted, or designed, Q is the go-to person who can bring an idea to life.

This past summer, Q played a vital role in the Pos+Abilities garden; from planting, to cultivating, to harvesting. His hands-on dedication helped make the garden a huge success for everyone involved.

Q says he genuinely enjoys both the clients and his coworkers at RTC, and it shows in everything he does.

Outside of work, you’ll often find Q at the Holland Theatre, playing video games, or woodworking, a craft that RTC happily benefits from!

Congratulations, Q! Thank you for sharing your talents, energy, and creativity with all of us.

Thanksgiving at Pos+Abilities: A Day Filled With Food, Family, and Gratitude

Pos+Abilities spent November celebrating Thanksgiving in the best way, by gathering together with family and friends for a day filled with food, laughter, and connection. Each client invited their favorite people to enjoy this meal with them.

This special celebration was more than just a meal. Pos+Abilities worked on this project for over a week, from planning and shopping to prepping and cooking every dish. Their hard work made the day even more meaningful.

The menu was a delicious Thanksgiving feast: turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and of course, pie to finish it all off.

The food was fabulous, the company was delightful, and the day was filled with warm moments that made everyone feel thankful. Friends and family who joined in loved everything about the celebration, from the homemade dishes to the joy shared around the table.

It was truly an all-around great day, a wonderful reminder of how meaningful it is to come together.

Star of the Month – Matt Adelsberger

We’re excited to celebrate Matt as our November Star of the Month! Matt shines in countless ways, and we are grateful for the joy, kindness, and enthusiasm he brings to our program every day.

Matt is always ready to help, often before anyone even asks. He passes out lunch boxes to his peers, pitches in with laundry, assists with grocery shopping for his program, and makes sure the walkie-talkie is on and ready each day. He loves being a helper, and it shows. His willingness to serve both clients and staff has a meaningful impact on everyone around him.

Beyond his helpful spirit, Matt is a truly wonderful human being. He enjoys watching videos on his iPad, especially anything featuring Mario, and he loves animals of all kinds, especially cats. He often talks about his family and treasures the time he spends with them. Music is another big part of his life, and he can often be found listening to his favorite Christian artist, Toby Mac.

Matt is an active participant in Grace’s Space, always looking forward to group discussions and engaging with enthusiasm.

One of the things people appreciate most about Matt is his friendliness. He greets everyone he meets, sometimes with a cheerful “hi,” sometimes with a fist bump, and sometimes with nothing more than his bright, contagious smile. Matt has a gift for making others feel welcome, and he is a friend to everyone.

We are so proud of Matt and grateful for the light he brings to our community. Congratulations, Matt, on being our November Star of the Month!

Birds of Prey Bring Wonder to RTC!

Excitement truly soared at RTC recently! Thanks to the generosity of Richwood Coffee, our clients enjoyed an unforgettable visit from the Glen Helen Raptor Center’s Birds of Prey.

The room was filled with awe as clients came face-to-face with these magnificent creatures, hawks, owls, and other powerful raptors who play a vital role in keeping our natural world in balance. The Glen Helen staff shared fascinating insights about each bird, their unique characteristics, and how they contribute to healthy ecosystems here in Ohio.

The Glen Helen Raptor Center has a remarkable mission: rescuing and rehabilitating birds of prey while educating the public about their importance in nature. Each year, the center cares for over 200 sick, injured, and orphaned raptors, giving them a second chance whenever possible. Their work doesn’t stop there, they also reach thousands of people annually through educational programs featuring their resident ambassador birds.

Our clients left the presentation inspired, informed, and full of appreciation for these incredible animals and the people who protect them.
A huge thank-you to Richwood Coffee for making this experience possible, and to the Glen Helen Raptor Center for bringing the wild so wonderfully close to home.
