Tonya’s not-so-bad art supports Art League
Tonya Reed, RTC Executive Director, looked no further than her passion for monarch butterflies to make her piece for the Logan County Art Leagues fundraiser, Not So Bad Art by Good People. Tonya partnered with Thelma Matthews, owner of The Cracked Pot Studio, to make a mosaic of her monarch.
The fundraiser made nearly $5000 for the art league from ten unique pieces from Not So Bad Artists in the community. The Art League works hard to provide engaging, thought-provoking and educational experiences that celebrate and expand the awareness of the visual arts for our community by offering artist events, workshops, open studio time, gallery space, artist retreats, and partnering with the community in a variety of ways.

Five Logan County Braves are heading to Las Vegas for the National Special Olympics Bowling Championships. Bill Bialecki, Frank Chatfield, Adam Abshire, Joe Van Voorhis, and Taylor Young all had high enough scores to be picked at the state level. The men will be competing from February 27 through March 1. Let’s go Braves!

Sausage Tortellini soup
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage hot or mild
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 3 Tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- 1 pinch cayenne optional
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups spinach chopped
- 2 cups tortellini just under 10 oz. (refrigerated or frozen)
- Salt/ to taste
Instructions
- Cook and crumble the sausage and diced onions over medium-high heat until the onions are softened and the sausage is cooked through, 8-10 minutes. Drain grease. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Add basil, oregano, cayenne, hot sauce, mustard powder, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Add the chicken broth and use a silicone spatula to “clean” the bottom of the pot. Slowly stir in the heavy cream. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer.
- Add the spinach and tortellini and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Taste the soup and add salt if desired. Start with ¼ tsp and add more after that if needed.
- Transfer to serving bowls and serve!
Braves Basketball
The Logan County Braves Basketball and Cheer teams wound up their season on January 29 at Mac-A-Cheek Center. The homes games always brought in a big crowd to cheer for both teams. A big thank you to Coach Mike Predmore, and referees, Hank Stolly and DJ Casey. And a special shout out to RTC Transit for getting the athletes and spectators to the games.
